The Western Development Commission (WDC) and Leitrim County Council are excited to announce the launch of the third season of the popular series Moving West. The second episode of this season will focus on the scenic County Leitrim and is scheduled to air on TG4 on October 22nd at 7:30pm.

Moving West, produced by Dundara Television & Media in collaboration with WDC and Leitrim County Council, is hosted by Ireland's well-known television personality, Mary Kennedy. The show continues its mission to spotlight the charm and vibrancy of life in the West and Northwest of Ireland. By sharing the heartfelt stories of individuals and families who have relocated to these regions, the series has gained a reputation for capturing the essence of rural living and the close-knit communities that thrive there.

Episode Two: A Journey into Leitrim’s Heart

The upcoming episode will highlight Leitrim Hill Creamery in Drumcong, where Lisa Gifford and her family run a thriving goat cheese business. Originally from New York, Lisa moved to Leitrim after living in Serbia and California, drawn by her Irish roots. She is joined by her daughter Gypsy and Gypsy’s partner Richelle South, who relocated from Singapore.

Showcasing Leitrim’s Vibrant Lifestyle

Co-funding the episode, Leitrim County Council is proud to be a part of showcasing the county’s unique qualities. Known for its stunning natural beauty—abundant lakes, rolling hills, and growing food scene—Leitrim offers an idyllic lifestyle for those seeking a balance between work and leisure.

Joseph Gilhooly, Chief Executive of Leitrim County Council, highlighted the positive changes happening in the region. "Recent investment in infrastructure, recreational amenities, and business development throughout the County are transforming Leitrim into an even more attractive and dynamic place. With the County’s population growing by over 9% and in 2023, being voted the best county in which to start a business, Leitrim is on an upward trajectory." Gilhooly emphasized the appeal of Leitrim for businesses, professionals, and families looking to relocate, noting its affordability, high-quality childcare, and modern office spaces.

Vision of a Thriving West

Allan Mulrooney, CEO of the Western Development Commission, reflected on the significance of Moving West in showcasing the region. "Our communities are defined by a rich mosaic of people and experiences that give the West of Ireland its unique character. Season Three of Moving West has been an incredible opportunity to showcase individuals working across some of the region's most inspiring sectors, from indigenous businesses to foreign investments."

Mulrooney emphasized that stories like those of Lisa Gifford and her family reflect not only the beauty of the region but also the strong, welcoming communities that contribute to its prosperity.
