Drinking Water Regulations

Drinking Water Regulations

Under the European Union (Drinking Water) Regulations 2023, both the supplier and the relevant local authority have legal responsibilities in relation to private supplies. Under Part 1 (3) Exemptions - a water supply that is an exempt supply is one which constitutes an individual supply of less than 10 cubic metres a day on average and serves fewer than 50 persons or is not supplied as part of a commercial public activity. These water supplies must be tested annually by an Accredited Laboratory and this annual test must be arranged by the Group Water Scheme. To access the current list of Accredited Laboratories who will carry out this test on water supply, please click here.
