Lissinagroagh Wind Farm Grid Connection Route and 110 kV Sub Station - application under the provisions of section 182A(1) of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, to An Coimisiún Pleanála in relation to a proposed Grid Connection and Sub Station at Lissinagroagh, Co Leitrim
FuturEnergy Lissinagroagh Designated Activity Company have lodged an application for the proposed Lissinagroagh Windfarm Grid Connection Route and 110 kV Sub Station to An Coimisiún Pleanála on Friday August 21st 2026. The application will be available on to view on the An Coimisiún Pleanála website at Lissinagroagh Wind Farm Grid Connection Route & 110 kV Sub Station - Case reference: VA12.324597 or on the dedicated website https://lissinagroaghgridplanning.ie/ website from Friday 28th August.
The proposed development will comprise:
A permanent 110 kV on-site electrical substation located on the proposed Lissinagroagh Wind Farm site (which is subject to a separate planning application lodged to An Coimisiún Pleanála on 14/05/2026 (ACP – 324290-260)), including the following:
- An EirGrid control building;
- An Independent Power Producer (IPP) control building;
- All electrical plant and infrastructure and grid ancillary services equipment;
- A telecommunications mast (ranging up to 23m in height with 2.3m below ground level);
- Car parking spaces for up to 10 vehicles;
- Lighting;
- Security fencing;
- 2 no. wastewater holding tanks;
- Rainwater harvesting equipment;
- All associated infrastructure and services including site works and signage.
A Grid Connection Route consisting of a 110 kV underground cale which is approximately 32 km in length (of which 30.6 km will be in the public road corridor), which will be installed from the 110 kV substation to the existing ESBN Srananagh Substation, Co. Sligo. The Grid Connection Route will also consist of the following works:
- Eleven bridge crossings, of which eight will involve in-road HDD (Horizontal Directional drill), two will involved off-road HDD and one will be a standard crossing within the bridge deck;
- Eight culvert crossings by open trenching, and
- All related site works and ancillary development.
The same Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and Natura Impact Statement (NIS) and photomontages as accompanied the wind farm application again accompanies the current application as both are functionally interdependent and constitute a single project for the purposes of Environmental Impact Assessment.
Any submissions or observations must be made to An Coimisiún Pleanála, accompanied by a fee of €50 (except for certain prescribed bodies) and must be received by An Coimisiún Pleanála not later than 5.30pm on16th October2026 and accompanied by a fee of €50.
