DRAFT County Leitrim Heritage Plan 2026-2031 Public Consultation
Leitrim County Council and the Leitrim Heritage Forum have prepared a Draft Heritage Plan 2026-2031 and are looking for your views.
This plan sets out the priorities for Heritage in Leitrim over the next 6 years and is a commitment by Leitrim County Council to promote and protect Leitrim’s heritage.
In conjunction with the Heritage Forum, the draft heritage plan was informed by an extensive public consultation entitled ‘What’s Your Leitrim Heritage?’, which was held over a six week period (23rd February to 23rd March). A total of 68 submissions were received from members of the public and these submissions have informed this draft heritage plan. We are now inviting your comments on the draft heritage plan.
The Plan includes actions under four strategic objectives:
- Engage Individuals and Groups to Participate in Heritage Initiatives
- Promote Awareness and Appreciation of Leitrim’s Heritage
- Support the Gathering and Dissemination of Heritage Data
- Support the Conservation and Management of Leitrim’s Heritage

Draft Heritage Plan Public Consultation
The public consultation is open from 23rd February 2026 until 23rd March 2026.
Closing date for submissions of comments on the draft heritage plan is 23rd March 2026.
