Septic Tank Inspections

Leitrim County Council will be commencing inspections of Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems (DWWTS) / Septic Tanks in February 2026.

Householders will be contacted in advance by an authorised Leitrim County Council Environment Inspection Officer and systems will be inspected to ensure they are not posing a risk to human health or the environment. Householders are reminded of their responsibility for maintaining their DWWTS / Septic Tanks - regular maintenance is essential to ensure efficient operation and avoid costly repairs.
