Carrick Youth Arts Space

Recognising the scarcity of community facilities in Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim County Council acquired a building in the centre of the town, formerly Coleman’s bookshop, in 2022. The building is in an excellent location in the heart of Carrick on Shannon and features a wonderful mosaic tile façade, which dates from the 1950s that is characteristic of a number of shops across Leitrim and Roscommon.

The ground floor of the new facility was developed under the PEACE Plus programme to serve a broad range of community groups and features a large meeting room, kitchen facility and exhibition area. The lower ground floor was developed under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme and features a workshop space for youth arts activities with soundproofing and shock absorbent flooring.

The facility will open mid 2026 and so right now we’re looking for a name to call it. Please email any suggestions to arts@leitrimcoco.ie.
