Parking of Vehicles Marked "For Sale" along Public Roads

PARKING OF VEHICLES MARKED “FOR SALE” ON/ALONG PUBLIC ROADS
ROADS ACT, 1993 – SECTION 71

Leitrim County Council wish to advise that any person who, without lawful authority or the consent of the road authority, erects, places or retains on a public road any caravan, vehicle or other structure or thing used for the purposes of advertising, the sale of goods, the provision of services or other similar purpose shall be guilty of an offence under Section 71 of the Roads Act 1993. 

This Offence includes the parking of any vehicle (Car, Van, Caravan or other similar vehicle) on/along any Public Road in the County for the purpose of Advertising or Offering the Vehicle for Sale including on/along the N4 Bypass Road in Carrick on Shannon.

Under Section 71 of the Roads Act, 1993, Leitrim County Council have the power to remove any such vehicle so parked and the registered owner will be required to pay the reasonable costs involved in removing and storing the vehicle prior to the vehicle being returned to the registered owner.
