Public Notice of Drone Surveys

On behalf of Leitrim County Council, Murphy Geospatial will be undertaking a UAV Drone Survey of a 20 square kilometre area around the SLNCR Preferred Corridor between Carraroe, County Sligo to Blacklion, County Cavan. Including areas in Ballysadare, Collooney, Ballygawley, Dromahair, Manorhamilton and Glenfarne that are within the preferred Corridor.  

The survey will take place from Monday 17th November 2025 for a period of three weeks, however it should be noted that this is weather dependant, and dates may be subject to change. The purpose of the survey is to establish a three-dimensional ground model to facilitate the development of route options within the Preferred Corridor and ultimately select the Preferred Route for the SLNCR Greenway.

Murphy Geospatial are licenced and registered for working in Air Space by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). All works will be carried out by Competent Pilots who are Licenced by the IAA. As part of its licencing requirements, Murphys Geospatial complies with IAA and Civilian Aviation Authority (CAA) Rules & Regulations and the Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2003 (Privacy). All surveys conform to the Irish Transverse Mercator (ITM) co-ordinate and Ordinance Datum Malin Head levels.

For this Project, Murphy Geospatial has completed a Data Privacy Risk Assessment and a Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS), approved by Leitrim County Council in conjunction with our Consulting Engineer, Arup. Murphys Geospatial have in place all Insurances including, Public Liability, Employers Liability and Professional Indemnity.
