Leitrim Climate Action Week 2026
Leitrim Climate Action Week takes place 12 – 18 October 2026
Leitrim County Council in partnership with An Taisce and community groups are running Leitrim Climate Action Week between 12 and 18 October 2026. Leitrim Climate Action Week aligns with actions required in the Leitrim Climate Action Plan (2024-2029).
Leitrim Climate Action Week is a weeklong series of events taking place across the county or online with a wide range of events planned to inform, engage, and inspire climate action within the community.
Activities include community garden events, sustainability themed films and the first appearance in Leitrim of The Toy Library. The Toy Library Swap & Play is a free event designed to promote toy reuse, reduce waste, and encourage Circular Economy principles in communities and will take place on 18 October 2026 in the Landmark Hotel. Attendees are welcome to bring up to five gently used toys to swap or simply take home pre-loved toys without bringing any.
If Climate Action is an area that interests, you or you are looking for ways to connect with like-minded people in your local community then these events will give you a chance to do that and take action at a local level.
Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council, Councillor Mary Bohan said: “This is the third year of Leitrim Climate Action Week, and I note that there is a varied number of themes for events spread across the county. I encourage everyone to attend events of interest to them in their local community and participate in conversations around Climate Change and Climate Action. I would like to thank the various community groups for their efforts in organising these events and hope that Leitrim Climate Action Week will continue to be a staple event for community participation and engagement in sustainability”.
