Events will be taking place across the county from Ballinamore to Manorhamilton to Carrick on Shannon so start planning your evening now! A Night At the Rambling House
Come for a Ceili at the Cornmill Theatre. With this Culture Night we set out to showcase our local talent, the art of storytelling and community spirit. The Cornmill Theatre has long been a cultural hub for the arts. With this event we hope to encourage participation and bring people together through our shared cultural experiences. It is an opportunity for discovery of new plays, supporting local performers and to celebrate the legacy community theatre has, in Irelands artistic landscape.
Suitable for 16 years and up, we have created a program that invites the audience to laugh out loud and experience moments of reflection on family, life and love. Each performance offers a unique glimpse into Irish Theatre and then during passion amongst our communities. We hope to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for everyone. Culture Night at The Dock
The Dock kicks off Culture Night with short films by leading Irish animators, including John Kelly’s Oscar‑nominated Retirement Plan, Cartoon Saloon’s Éiru, and Aidan McAteer’s The Cloud Herder. Two 45-minute programmes will be screened in a relaxed, sensory‑friendly setting for a more flexible viewing experience. Events at 5pm and 6pm.
Afterimage: Photography in the Digital Age is an exhibition of cutting-edge work by Irish and international artists. Join us for a guided tour on the creative possibilities of technology and photography — from the revival of historical processes to the ubiquity of smartphone cameras, and, more recently, the reality-bending presence of AI. Event at 7pm.
Harry Bouchier will curate a special music gig, bringing together young people from Leitrim and Roscommon to collaborate with professional musicians including Johnny McGlynn, Udo Grunewald, and Roy Branagan. Emerging talent from the local area will perform iconic songs inspired by various colours and shades across genres. Event at 8pm.

You Are The Signal
You Are the Signal is an interactive audiovisual installation where your movement becomes part of the artwork. Step into the installation and see what happens when you move. A motion-tracking system detects your movement and uses it to generate and transform projected visuals and sound in real time. Walking, gesturing or dancing can change what you see and hear, creating an evolving audiovisual environment that is different every time someone interacts with it. The installation is an open, drop-in experience. You don't need any experience of dance, music or technology – simply come in, explore and see how your movements affect the space around you.
Developed by Leitrim-based musician, audio engineer and creative technologist Mat Warren, the project combines sound, generative technology and interactive visual systems to explore the relationship between people, movement and their environment. Come and experiment with the system, watch others interact with it, or simply step inside and see what you can create.

Threads of Creativity
Join us for an evening celebrating sustainable textiles and prints, showcasing the skills and creative processes developed during our nine-week summer workshop series at The Dock. Enjoy three interactive textile demonstrations and explore an exhibition highlighting the work created throughout the programme.
Master craft maker Annie Gambrill will demonstrate traditional spinning on a restored antique spinning wheel. Participants can experience spinning their own wool and learn about Annie’s passion for locally sourced fibre, from fleece to finished cloth, and her commitment to preserving traditional textile skills. Felt artist Belinda Reid will demonstrate how to create 3D needle-felted flower pots using wire, a special barbed needle and 100% wool. Participants aged 18+ can try this delicate and creative technique while discovering the versatility and beauty of felt. Professional feltmaker Karen Bowden will demonstrate wet felting, creating flowers and beads using merino wool, water and friction. Karen will also showcase different types of wool and explain their suitability for wet felting. Children aged 8+ can join in the flowery fun!
Meet the artists, discover traditional techniques with a contemporary twist, and celebrate creativity, sustainability and the rich possibilities of wool.

Market Yard Centre presents…
Culture Night
The Market Yard is Carrick's new centre of entertainment. Culture Night Friday Sept 18'th has a fantastic line up of genuine local; musicians, singers and dancers. 4:00pm Children from Drumsna Ceoltas. 5:30pm to 7:00pm a beautiful exciting band Ceol na Ceangail featuring the Daly sisters plus Aoife, Rachael and Padraig playing harp, flute, concertina, guitar, whistle and vocals. Main event of the night 7:30pm until 9:30pm - the Fantastic RAKISH. For 20 years Rakish have been bringing their toe-tapping music to delighted audiences in Ireland and beyond. Traditional Irish, with an eclectic mix of folk, ballads, bluegrass, country, pop and reggae. So join us in the Market Yard on Sept18th for a fantastic night of free entertainment supported by Leitrim County Council and the Arts Council. Refreshments available within the yard.

Story of the Earl Grey Girls and their Voyage to Austraila
Grey Girls: The House at Summerhill is a new site-responsive performance created for the atmospheric attic of the former Carrick-on-Shannon Workhouse.
Performed by Ensemble 32 with Leitrim Male Choir, the work will combine theatre, spoken word, music, song and historical material to explore the lives of the men, women and children who passed through the workhouse. The history of the building will provide the framework, but the focus will be on the people behind that history. Through individual and collective voices, the performance will explore family, separation, poverty, emigration, loss, survival and memory, with particular attention to the experiences of women and girls.

Cluainín Co-op Creates!
Enjoy a night of poetry, storytelling, history, and traditional tales with local writers Joel Smith, Gerry Bohan, Trish Bennett and David Spence, plus the opportunity to ask questions of the writers during the Artists’ Talk afterwards. After the readings, demonstrations will take place with Fibre Artists Kasia Macudzinzka, Rebecca Sweeney, Róisin Campbell and Dani Thulliers and will include basket weaving, drop spindle spinning, hand knitting, and needle felting. Fibre Arts practices date back thousands of years and remain unchanged and unrushed to this day. Come along and watch history unfold as artists weave and spin, vessels, clothing and moveable art using the same processes are were utilised aeons ago. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to this FREE event. Cluainín Community Co-op represents over one hundred arts practitioners from across Irelands northwest. The shop is a not-for-profit space run by volunteers from the local arts community and is supported by Leitrim Sculpture Centre.

Culture Night @ Leitrim Sculpture Centre
Leitrim Sculpture Centre will once again celebrate Culture Night by offering visitors an opportunity to explore one of Ireland's leading centres for contemporary fine art practice with live demonstrations, exhibitions and opportunities to meet practising artists. Throughout the evening, visitors can enjoy demonstrations in sand-casting, mould making, woodwork, ceramics, stone carving, flame-moulded glass and jewellery by James Kelly, David McAllister, Barry Flanagan, Herbie McCann, Dominic Keogh, Lindsay LeBlanc and Soraya Ricalde. The evening also features Matters of Process, an exhibition showcasing work by Brenda Kearney, Vanessa Donoso López, Margo McNulty, Anna Spearmen and David Spence, highlighting the creative outcomes of technical research and experimentation. Studio Artists work including Mary T. Keown and Crona Gallagher amongst others. Local food and refreshments will be available throughout the evening, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors to explore the workshops, meet artists and experience the vibrant creative community at Leitrim Sculpture Centre. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

At the heart of the night is a large-scale projection of St Clare's Hall's own story: from its beginnings as a church in 1810, through school, dance hall and derelict ruin, narrated with rare archival photographs, film and local memory. Watch the hall's past transform into a vivid 3D reconstruction, built using the same VR scanning, photogrammetry and BIM modelling techniques used to bring the real building back to life. The programme includes immersive VR stations - explore St Clare's Hall's future, and Europe's presence in it; a heritage montage & live narration from a local historian; informational stations on how EU cooperation supports everyday innovation across Leitrim; hands-on stations blending traditional skills with digital tools. Six new plays. Twenty-four hours. One unforgettable Culture Night.
Can you write a play in 24 hours? For Culture Night, The Glens Arts Centre presents Play in a Day!, where six emerging writers create original short plays in just 24 hours. A collaboration between The Glens Arts Centre and Rabbit's Riot Theatre Company, this is a celebration of creativity, imagination and the thrill of brand-new theatre. Guided by acclaimed Leitrim playwright Treasa Nealon, participants begin with a scriptwriting workshop before completing their plays overnight. The following day, professional actors will rehearse each script before presenting them to a live audience in a series of rehearsed readings. Treasa Nealon's work has been recognised nationally and internationally. Her short play The Back of the Bus was selected for Fishamble's The Navigator Project and will be published by Bloomsbury. Her full-length Boom Boom Bang was selected for Druid Debuts, with recent productions including The World is Falling in Around Us (London's Union Theatre) and Homesick (Dublin Fringe Festival). Whether you're a theatre lover, aspiring writer or simply curious, come experience six brand-new stories created in just one day.

Celebrating the rich traditional musical heritage of South Leitrim at the newly refurbished old Mohill Station House 6pm -10pm.
Mohill Station House which was an important stop on the old Cavan and Leitrim Narrow Gauge Railway sadly closed its doors in 1959. The Station House has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and is fast becoming a focal point of the cultural life of the local community. This year Culture night will celebrate the rich musical and storytelling traditons of this area led by traditional singer and composer Fionnuala Maxwell, the award winning McNamara Family, and friends. An exhibition and talk on Mohill's best loved traditional singer/songwriters will take place from 6pm. Everyone welcome.

Living off the land: Irelands heritage wool crafts from past to present with Eimear O'Neill. Wool is an abundant resource in Leitrim, one that was always part of our culture, but has been less valued in recent years. Eimear O'Neill will show you how to take a sheep's fleece and turn it into yarn for knitting, just as our ancestors did before us, in a talk and demonstration. Join us to share experiences about this heritage craft, learn how sustainable it is as a method of clothing production (so important in this era of fast fashion!) and see how Irish wool crafts have evolved and modernised in recent years. This Culture Night, get together with like minded people to share, learn, celebrate the past and start that journey to spin again. Drop in.

Discover the Craft. Shape the Story. Join Leitrim School of Art for a special Culture Night evening exploring the rich connection between ceramics, storytelling and Irish heritage.
Clay has been used for thousands of years to create objects that preserve memories, celebrate traditions and tell stories about people, places and communities. In this welcoming, hands-on event, you'll discover how ceramics have played a part in Ireland's cultural story, from ancient pottery to the work of contemporary Irish ceramic artists. You'll then have the opportunity to create your own unique piece using Irish clay, inspired by a personal memory, family tradition, favourite place, local landscape or something that has special meaning to you. With guidance from experienced ceramic tutors, you'll explore accessible hand-building and decorative techniques to transform your ideas into a personal story in clay.
No previous experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to have a go. Your finished piece will be professionally glazed and kiln-fired and will be available to collect after the event. Come along, get your hands in the clay, discover something about Ireland's ceramic heritage and create a piece that tells your story.

Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton) joins Éanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment) and Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls) in John Millington Synge’s riveting play of youth and self-discovery. Pegeen Flaherty’s life is turned upside down when a young man walks into her pub claiming that he’s killed his father. Instead of being shunned, the killer becomes a local hero and begins to win hearts, that is until a second man unexpectedly arrives on the scene. Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, Caitríona McLaughlin directs this darkly funny tale full to the brim with secrets.

Live Mural Paint Jam & Evening Exhibition at MyfanwyNia’s Studio
MyfanwyNia’s Studio opens its doors once again this Culture Night for a live mural paint jam and evening exhibition in the rural landscape of Leitrim’s Iron Mountains.
Throughout the afternoon, artists from Ireland’s contemporary mural and street art community will paint alongside emerging and aspiring muralists, transforming the studio’s purpose-built walls with large-scale works created live using spray paint and other mural techniques. Visitors are welcome to drop in throughout the afternoon, watch the paint jam unfold, meet the artists and experience the creative process first-hand.
As daylight fades, the freshly painted murals become an open-air Culture Night exhibition, with live DJs, refreshments and an opportunity to meet the participating artists.
