Green-Schools Walk to School

This year’s Walk to School week is all about Making Connections – It’s a new term and the start of the school year, a perfect time to connect with other people, with our local surroundings and with nature as the seasons change!

Can you try walking and talking to an old or new face on your way to school? Can you notice the ripening berries, changing leaves on your route? Can you spot any local landmarks on your way to school? 

We want to keep the goal of Walk to school week simple and focused on trying to get as many students and staff walking at any point they can during their school journey. Live too far to walk the whole journey? Try incorporating a Park and Stride or ‘Bus and Stride’ into your route!  

COMPETITION TIME- Green Schools

To reward and recognise the huge efforts that schools put into promoting Walk to School week, there are lots of opportunities to win! 

The school with the overall highest numbers will receive a certificate and €250 in prize money toward a treat of their choosing, while the two highest percentage of walkers in urban and rural areas will also receive €250 each. 

In addition a number of €150 participation prizes across the country will be up for grabs, so make sure to get your numbers in!
