Playgrounds

Leitrim County Council maintains the highest number of playgrounds per head of population in Ireland.  The playgrounds are for children of up to 12 years of age and are open all day every day of the year.

Ready, Steady, Play: A National Play Policy

The Policy, published in 2019, provides a framework for future development and looks at a range of issues, including:

• guiding principles
• a partnership approach between the statutory, community, voluntary and private sectors
• developing a play infrastructure
• safety and public liability insurance
• funding arrangements
