Leitrim Gaelic Games, Reflections and Memories - The Leitrim Gathering

The 'Leitrim Gaelic Games - Reflections and Memories' Exhibition will be on display in Ballinamore Library for the Leitrim Gathering weekend 23rd-25th of May.

Ballinamore Library will be open Friday 23rd of May 10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm, and Saturday 24th of May 10am-1pm.

The Leitrim Gaelic Games Reflections and Memories exhibition celebrates Gaelic Games and its impact on Leitrim communities. It showcases powerful social connections and highlights the power of strong community ties.
Curated by library staff, all the information, photographs and artefacts for the exhibition have been taken from the library’s extensive local studies collection which has been built up over many years and from generous donations from people living in Leitrim and beyond. The exhibition boards highlight a range of elements relating to Gaelic Games across the county including the Club scene, LGFA, Hurling, Handball and Scór. Among the many interesting photographs are the Leitrim team who won the Connacht Championship in 1927, the 1958 team who reached the Connacht Final and of course the victorious team of 1994. It also features the Ladies teams of 1988, 2007 and 2024.
A podcast was also developed to accompany the exhibition which features a series of interviews with a number of individuals involved in and with a passion for Gaelic Games in the county. The podcast episodes can be found by searching for the 'Leitrim Libraries Unleashed Podcast' on Spotify.
