A Celebration of Culture, Community, and Connection - 

Over 50 Events Taking Place in Towns and Villages Throughout Leitrim

People from all over Co. Leitrim will be participating in an array of events as part ‘The Leitrim Gathering’, which takes place from Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th May 2025. This wonderful celebration of Leitrim’s rich heritage, culture and community, promises to be an exciting weekend for people of all ages. Over 50 events are scheduled to take place in communities throughout Leitrim, with large numbers of visitors and the diaspora expected to visit the county.

Three flagship events headline ‘The Leitrim Gathering’ schedule. For instance, on Friday 23rd May, the Ballinamore Gathering Festival plays host to a performance by the renowned band Garadice for a night of unforgettable music.  In Manorhamilton, The Leitrim Gathering Jamboree features music from Declan Nerney and Una Healy on Saturday 24th May, in what is sure to be one of the best concerts this year. Finally, Sessions Along The Shannon brings together talented musicians from all corners to perform traditional music sessions in 15 venues throughout Carrick on Shannon across the weekend.

 ‘The Leitrim Gathering’ programme of events has something for all the family. A varied and exciting schedule ensures everyone will find an event of interest. The community across Leitrim have engaged extensively with ‘The Leitrim Gathering’ initiative to organise an eclectic mix of events. From music and heritage, to exhibitions and the arts, towns and villages across the county will be a hive of activity. This is a great opportunity for not only those visiting the County, but also for those living in Leitrim, to come out and show their support for events happening in their area.

While many visitors from Ireland and beyond will be travelling to Leitrim for the festivities, members of the Leitrim diaspora abroad who cannot attend are encouraged to partake in celebrations by organising events wherever they live. ‘The Leitrim Gathering’ aims to bridge the physical gap between Leitrim and its diaspora and enhance the sense of pride and connection Leitrim people have of their roots. Those living across the world can be part of the celebrations by sharing their experiences online and being part of the story of the weekend.
