There are a range of training options open to both individuals and to businesses in Leitrim.

Training Options for Individuals

Do you want to return to education full-time, part-time or just one-day courses?Do you know what type of course you are looking for, what college provides the course or what the costs of the course are?

Leitrim Adult Guidance Service provides information, advice and guidance on training and education. The service is free and confidential.They also assist with with applying for courses, money matters, childcare supports, qualifications etc. The Information Centre has a library of careers and education information and gives you access to the internet to do your research. FÁS, through its training centre in Ballytivnan and through outreach courses in Leitrim operate a wide range of of day time training programmes and evening courses. Many courses lead to a recognised qualification and they vary in length from 5-40 weeks. Some of the courses are also provided on-line through using the libraries in Leitrim or from your own home. Leitrim County Development Board provide a range of courses through the Leitrim Third Level Initiative. Courses start each Autumn and include courses from colleges such as Athlone IT, the Irish Academy of Public Relations and others. Courses are offered on a part-time basis in Carrick on Shannon. Leitrim County Enterprise Board deliver a range of courses for individuals who wish to start their own business. Examples of courses offered in Leitrim include is it time to start you own venture?; Start your Own Business; Managing your Accounts and; Occupational First Aid. The Springboard Initiative is a new initiative launched in May 2011 which makes certain part-time, third level courses in areas of predicted economic growth free to people in receipt of certain DSP benefits. There are a number of colleges within a radius of Leitrim offering courses across a range of disciplines. The colleges offer a number of programmes to assist individuals who are unemployed to get back into education. The colleges in the area include:
