Leitrim County Development Board provide a range of courses through the Leitrim Third Level Initiative. Courses start each Autumn and include courses from colleges such as Athlone IT, the Irish Academy of Public Relations and others. Courses are offered on a part-time basis in Carrick on Shannon. The Springboard Initiative is a new initiative launched in May 2011 which makes certain part-time, third level courses in areas of predicted economic growth free to people in receipt of certain DSP benefits.
