1. Leitrim has a population of 28,950 people - the population of Leitrim increased by 12.2% in the
last Census period - one of the highest increases in the country.

2. Leitrim is situated in the North West of Ireland sharing a border with Northern Ireland and have a small but beautiful stretch of coastline with the Atlantic Ocean which is a surfers paradise.

3. Carrick on Shannon is the county town and is situated in the south of the county on the main N4 route which connects the North West with Dublin.

4. Leitrim is approximately two hours from Dublin and Belfast.

5. Leitrim has one of the highest participation rates in third level education of any county in Ireland.

6. The County is renowned for its landscape - beautiful rugged mountains in the North of the County and rolling drumlins in the South of the County. Carrick on Shannon is the thriving cruising capital of the River Shannon and is within a 10km radius of 41 lakes.

7. Lough Allen lies in the centre of Leitrim and is widely used for fishing, boating, kayaking and other water sports as well as having an outdoors pursuit training centre through the Lough Allen Adventure centre.
