VistaMed Ltd. operates from two bases in Leitrim – Rooskey and Carrick on Shannon. VistaMed Ltd., is a medical device manufacturer specialising in the development of disposable medical devices and associated tubing.
The decision to locate in Rooskey was made on commercial grounds. Rooskey was attractive to Patrick Mullholland, CEO, because there was a building available which could be modified to suit the company’s needs and the area was not at full employment. The company has now expanded and has a second facility in Carrick on Shannon.
The Company employs 80 staff, 56 in production and 24 in activities such as research and development, finance and marketing and the majority of these are highly skilled graduates.
The Company has received a lot of support from Enterprise Ireland in the past in the form of Research and Development, Productivity Improvement Fund (PIF), Human Resource Development (HRD) together with employment grants.
VistaMed also has strong links with Athlone Institute of Technology and NUI Galway for graduate recruitment and research and development services.
The Company supplies its product, which is high value and low volume, worldwide from its base in Leitrim.
