Philip Martin, CEO of Cora Systems is from the area and this influenced his decision to move back from the East Coast to establish a software business in Leitrim along with this wife, Annemarie. The company has grown from having just 3 staff in 2000 to over 25 staff in 2008. Most of the staff are graduates with specializations in computer programming, marketing or finance.
They are the number one provider of business and programme/project management applications to Local Authorities in Ireland and have a significant client base in the UK. They supply their ProjectVision software to the local government, environment and water services, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors.
Cora Systems received support on start-up from the County Enterprise Board before moving on to the High Potential Start Up Programme with Enterprise Ireland. The company has received support for productivity improvement, product development and sales and marketing from a variety of sources including Enterprise Ireland, Skillsnet and Hot House Incubation as well as venture capital from Western Development Commission.
