Introduction

Carrick-on-Shannon is the county town and administrative centre of Co. Leitrim situated in the North West on the bank of the River Shannon and bordering County Roscommon.

It is strategically located on the Dublin to Sligo national primary N4 and well serviced by road and rail. It is the boating capital of the inland waterways and boasts a number of modern marinas and harbours. It is home to the regional office of the new All Ireland Waterway Authority. MBNA Ireland established offices in Carrick in 2001 and currently employs 1,100 people. Masonite is the other main employer in the area.
